Robert Smith Associates Ltd, is a structural and civil engineering practice, established in 1989.

Since formation the practice has accumulated considerable expertise in the design of a wide range of structures. We are proud to say that our client base, of which a selection follows, has been built largely on the basis of recommendation. Our current work ranges from industrial and commercial projects up to £1 million in value through to alteration of domestic properties.

Robert Smith is responsible for the design work carried out. He is a Chartered Engineer, and a member of both the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Institution of Civil Engineers. He has recently been elected a Fellow of the Association of Consulting Engineers, and the practice is now a firm member of that body.

The practice is constantly updating in terms of computer-aided design and also of CAD for the production of working drawings. We benefit from the services of three experienced CAD draughtsman and now produce all drawings using AutoCAD.

Since its inception the firm has enjoyed a close working relationship with another local structural practice. This enhances the experience and resources available and is an essential part of our Quality Assurance procedure.
The two practices continue to carry out considerable shared development of the computer design and AutoCAD software used, specifically to increase design efficiency and economy. In addition Robert Smith has an ongoing close working relationship with CSC (UK) Ltd one of the foremost suppliers of structural design software both in the UK and worldwide.
